Stanley Planet Savers - Eco Schools
Stanley Grove's Eco Code
The Stanley Planet Savers delivered a fabulous assembly for The Pod's Waste Week https://jointhepod.org/campaigns/ww23 . They spoke with clarity and confidence about different sorts of waste and gave some options to help reduce the amount of waste we produce. They organised a Toy Swap to help us understand the importance of reusing - or letting other people reuse things, we no longer want.
Stanley Planet Savers
This week the SPS were visited by Peter Leighton-Jones, Head of Sustainability at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Many thanks to Mr Nawaz, one of our governors, for making the introduction. The children listened attentively to Peter and shared ideas about how to engage others in conversation and actions that helps look after our environment. Peter took away a copy of our Eco Code to share with the hospital Trust Board members. SPS wrote the Eco Code and there is a copy in every classroom. The whole school reads the Eco Code together during the assemblies that SPS lead, so that we all remember how important the natural world is and what we can do to help look after it.
GREAT BIG GREEN WEEK 2022
For this years Great Big Green Week, we are thinking about water and how precious it is. The SPS delivered a fabulous assembly to KS1 and KS2, telling them interesting facts about water and top tips on how to be Water Hero by saving water. The lovely people at Yorkshire Water gave each child in KS1+2 a 4-minute shower timer to give them a good start on their 'Water Hero' journey.
They also designed a Water Hero Scavenger Hunt around the school playground with all the completed sheets going into a prize draw. All this, and Mrs Frosts water themed Headteachers Homework, will hopefully mean that Stanley Grove will be full of Water Hero's, ready and willing to help 'Save Water, Save Life!
